Dr. Tehmina Pirzada

Tehmina Pirzada is an Assistant Professor of English in the Department of Social Sciences at LSE. She obtained her PhD in English with a minor in Women Studies from Purdue University on a Fulbright fellowship in 2017. Her dissertation “Picturing the Girl: Understanding Muslim girlhood through fiction/film” explores Muslim girlhood in Pakistani and Iranian fictional and cinematic narratives. Her research and teaching interests include girlhood studies, Islamic feminism, contemporary postcolonial literature, popular and visual cultures, and modernist literatures. Her work has been published in the Journal of Girlhood Studies, Journal of Language, Literature, and Culture, and is forthcoming in South Asia Review.
