Waqar Ahmed Wadho
Dr. Waqar Ahmed WADHO is Assistant Professor of economics and Senior Research
Fellow at the Center for Research in Economics & Business (CREB), Lahore School
of Economics. He has M.Sc (2004) in Economics from Quaid I Azam University,
Islamabad, MS (2007) in Economic Analysis and Econometrics with specialization
in Economic Theory from GREQAM, Aix-Marseille School of Economics, Aix-Marseille
University, France, and Ph.D in economics (2011) from GREQAM, Aix-Marseille
School of Economics, Aix-Marseille University, France. His PhD dissertation was
in quantitative economics with concentration in Economics of Corruption and
Economic Growth. This research included three theoretical papers: 1) Control
Rights, Bureaucratic Corruption and the Allocation of Resources, 2) Steal If You
Need: Capitulation Wages with Endogenous Monitoring, 3) Education, Rent-seeking
and the Curse of Natural Resources.
Dr. Wadho teaches Theories of Economic Growth for PhD, Advanced Macroeconomics
for M.Phil, Macroeconomics and Resource economics for undergraduate programs,
and supervises graduate thesis in Economics. He is HEC approved supervisor and
is member of the HEC Curriculum Revision Committee on Economics 2012-13. Dr.
Wadho is also member of the HEC sub-committee on Economics of Committee for
Development of Social Sciences and Humanities in Pakistan” (CDSSHP). His
research interests include Endogenous Growth Theory, Economic Growth and
Development, Economics of Corruption, Inter-generational transmissions in
Macroeconomics, Governance and Political Economy. Dr. Wadho has presented his
research in many international conferences such as Journées Louis-André
Gérard-Varet, Marseille France, Warsaw International Economic Meeting (WIEM),
Warsaw Poland, EDGE Jamboree by European Doctoral Group in Economics, etc and
has been invited as keynote speaker in research institutions in Pakistan such as
Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI), Islamabad.
Dr. Wadho is publishing his work in international journals. His published
research includes “Education, Rent seeking and the Curse of Natural Resource”,
Economics & Politics Vol. 26 (1), 2014. “Control Rights, Bureaucratic Corruption
and the Allocation of Resources”, European Journal of Law and Economics, Vol. 35
(1) 2013; “IMF Stabilization Programs, Policy Conduct and Macroeconomic
Outcomes: A Case Study of Pakistan”, (with Hakro, A Nawaz) The Lahore Journal of
Economics, 2006. His ongoing research includes; Optimal Public Wages with
Corruption and Endogenous Monitoring, Determinants of Innovation in Pakistani
Manufacturing Sector and the Relationship between Product Market Competition and
Innovation; Endogenous Preference in the Model of Economic Growth with the
Accumulation of Human and Political Capitals, Intergenerational Altruism and
Misappropriation of Public Resources in the Endogenous Growth Model with Human
Capital, Corruption, Tax Evasion and Economic Growth in the presence of
Congestion effects.
