MPhil in Environmental Science and Policy
Programme Mission:
The central objective of the MPhil Programme of the Environmental Science and Policy is to produce high quality graduate students with a deep understanding of the environment and a potential to undertake research on environmental issues with a focus on offering solutions to the problems of Pakistan and other developing countries and of humanity at large. The mission is to the production and supply of appropriate human resources to play the key role of environment managers, policy framers, planners requisite for decision making at national and global scale. It will also help both Pakistan and the world in development of strategies to manage the sanctity of environment to make our planet a better abode for future generations.

Length of MPhil. in Environmental Science and Policy Programme and Graduation Requirements: The MPhil in Environmental Science and Policy Programme is a 2 to 3 year degree programme requiring completion of 36 credit hours. A CGPA of 3.0 in coursework and completed MPhil Thesis is required to graduate from the programme.
Credit Hours and Courses: All courses are three credit hours except the MPhil Research Thesis which is 6 credit hours.
Semester Schedule: The academic year consists of 2 Semesters (Winter and Spring). The Winter Semester from September – December and Spring Semester from January - May consist of 16 -18 weeks each including one week for Mid Semester Exams and one week for Final Semester Exams.
Entrance Requirements: Admission to the Lahore School’s MPhil in Environmental Science and Policy programme is regulated through; (i) HAT 4- Physical Sciences (ii) a Lahore School admissions test and (iii) an interview process. 16 years of Education from HEC recognized institution in Environmental Science/ Geography/ Earth Sciences/ Biological Science/ Microbiology/ Biochemistry/ Forestry/ Agricultural Sciences/ Physics/ Applied Physics/ Chemistry/ MBBS/ BDS/BVM with a CGPA of 3.0 is a necessary pre-requisite for regular admission into the M. Phil in Environmental Science and Policy programme.
Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Environmental Science and Policy: MPhil Students unable to proceed further in the MPhil Programme may be eligible for PGD. The PGD in Environmental Science and Policy requires completion of 24 credit hours of MPhil coursework and a CGPA of 2.5.
The Lahore School of Economics has the right to make modifications in its Policies including Admission Policies, Fees, Courses, Course Sequence, Seminar, Tutorial and Graduation requirements for any Undergraduate/ Graduate Programme. The School also reserves the right to prescribe pre-requisite course work to a candidate exclusive of regular coursework for the MS/MPhil/PhD Program
