Ahmad Nawaz

Dr. Ahmad Nawaz is Associate Professor of Economics and Director, research, Graduate Institute of Development Studies (GIDS), at the Lahore School of Economics. He holds a MA in Development Economics from the University of Manchester and a Doctorate in Economics from the Georg-August University, Göttingen. Germany. His teaching and research career spans over 20 years. Prior to Joining LSE, He has taught at Government College University (GCU), Lahore and Comsats University, Islamabad. He has also worked as Research Economist at the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) for 10 years.

His research interests lie primarily in the domain of development economics with a focus on ethical issues in Microfinance. His more recent empirical work pertains to sustainability issues in an uneven world at household, firm and cross-country level.

Dr. Nawaz regularly presents research work in European Research Conferences on Microfinance and Development Studies Association (DSA), UK Conferences. He is also a member of the German Academic Exchange Program (DAAD) scholarship panel for the selection of Doctoral & post-doctoral candidates to study in Germany. He has published in reputed journals like the Strategic Change, Journal of Asian Economics, Social Indicators Research, Journal of Environmental Management, The Chinese Economy, Journal of Chinese Economic and Foreign Trade Studies and Global Business Review.
