Mahvish Mahmud

Mahvesh has been a part of the Lahore School of Economics since 2013 teaching Strategy, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Research Methods and Business Policy. She has taught Advanced Operations Management to the MBA, Professional MBAs and Undergraduates. She pioneered the Harvard Business School’s Enspire Simulation taught to the MBA program in 2015. She conducted an awareness seminar on Parameters of Quality in Higher Education with Reference to Self-Assessment to the LSE administration staff and presented a paper on CPEC at the 6th Annual Business Research Conference at LSE on Managing Business in Pakistan with an Emphasis on CPEC related Opportunities and Challenges in 2018. She has supervised theses at the MPhil, MBA and Bachelors level.

Mahvesh Mahmud is a Shell-Chevening-DFID-Noon Foundation scholar to Judge Business School University of Cambridge UK where she was awarded the Kate Bertram Distinction in Management Studies for her degree in MPhil specifically in the areas of Innovation, Strategy and Organizational Development. Her research was based on Actor Network Theory, Institutional Theory, Resource Based View and Microfinance. Most of her work was based in Qualitative Research. She was selected as the scholar of the month in July 2023 by Noon Foundation UK.

She also has an MBA from NUST Business School Islamabad. She has worked at banks such as Citibank and ABN AMRO Bank. She was a part of the pioneering team at the Center for Advanced Studies in Engineering (CASE) and Communications Enabling Technologies Islamabad where she worked as an Assistant Manager HR and Operations head. She was responsible for managing a staff of over 200 employees based in USA and Pakistan. She defined the organizations staffing, compensation, recruitment, training and performance appraisal functions. She worked on defining company policy in collaboration with the USA office on HR related areas. She was responsible for training and staffing at CASE. While in Islamabad, she had worked with Bahria University Islamabad where she taught the MBA, BBA and Executive MBA programs Business and Management subjects and conducted Case Study workshops. When she moved to Lahore she worked at the Lahore University of Management Studies where she worked as a Research Associate carrying out trainings for the Executive MBA program and the MBA program. She also wrote two case studies titled Project Management Approaches at Techlogix Pakistan LUMS Case Study No. 30-118-2003-1 and CresSoft: Journey from ISO 9001 to Capability Maturity Model (CMM) Case Study No. 03-822-2004-1.

She has also worked at the French oil and gas company called Total Parco Pakistan as an Assistant HR manager where she effectively established recruitment, training, automation, employee development, external correspondence, and job fairs for establishing the HR function effectively.

She was part of the pioneering team which established the Institute of Business and Management at UET Lahore where she taught the Bachelors, Masters and Executive masters programs. She has also worked as an Assistant Professor at Beaconhouse National University where she taught History of Ideas, ICT in Education and Management, Social Construction of Technology to the Masters and MPhil level courses. She also raised funds for the Department of School of Education through a Fun Fair labeled Teachers as Leaders. Her interests in reading are in astrophysics, philosophy and literature. Special authors being Carl Sagan, Stephen Hawking, Ludwig Wittgenstein, Bertrand Russell, William Shakespeare and DH Lawrence.
