Nabiha Fatima Shahram

Dr. Nabiha Fatima has joined the Lahore School of Economics as an Assistant Professor, Department of Social Sciences. She holds a PhD in Sociology, an MPhil in Sociology, and a master’s degree in mass communication.

With extensive teaching experience at leading institutions, including the Lahore School of Economics and the University of Punjab, Dr. Nabiha Fatima has designed and delivered courses in sociology, anthropology, development studies, virtual media, and gender studies. She has mentored over 500 students in research projects on social responsibility, civil awareness, and community service.

Her research focuses on media, gender studies, and social development, with notable publications in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Peace, Development, and Communication and BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth. Her PhD research explores the career trajectories of women in the media industry through the lens of patriarchy and neoliberalism.

She has presented her work at prestigious academic conferences, including the 6th Annual Conference on Emerging Themes in Social Sciences. She has also been actively involved in organizing national and international academic events, contributing to discourse on media, gender, and society. Her research paper was awarded as the best research paper on ‘ Teacher Training Needs: Prevention Of Child Sexual Abuse” at National Education Conference.

Beyond academia, she has worked on impactful projects with organizations like UNICEF, PACHAAN Foundation, and USAID, focusing on child rights, public health, and the media’s role in social change. She was a qualitative research analyst for UNICEF, a research project across Pakistan on mother and child access to health. As a media professional, she has contributed to mainstream English dailies such as Dawn, The News, and Daily Times, and has appeared as an analyst in BBC documentaries.

Her commitment to research, teaching, and media advocacy continues to shape discussions on gender equality, media ethics, and social justice in Pakistan and beyond.
