Naved Hamid

Professor Naved Hamid is Director of the Centre for Research in Economics and Business (CREB) at the Lahore School of Economics. Also he is the Resident Director for the IGC country program in Pakistan. His policy work in Pakistan is focused on industry, trade, finance and economic growth. His involvement and support has been important for the success of a number of IGC projects in these areas such as on technology spillovers in the soccer ball industry, development of the garment industry, constraints to female entrepreneurship, credit/savings and microenterprises and the Punjab Growth Strategy.  In addition, Dr. Naved’s membership of numerous government committees and working groups has been instrumental in developing excellent relationships with senior echelons of the bureaucracy which has made it easier to help researchers in overcoming bottlenecks that often arise during the implementation of research projects. Dr.Naved’s publications include books, papers in professional journals and chapters in edited books printed by leading academic publishers, including Oxford University Press and Cambridge University Press. He has extensive policy experience, first because of his work with Asian Development Bank and more recently as a member of numerous high level advisory committees of the Government of Punjab and the Government of Pakistan.
