Ayesha Ali

Ayesha Nadir Ali is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at the Lahore School of Economics. She has a B.A. in Mathematics and History from Rutgers University (USA) and an M.A. in Mathematics from University of Maine (USA).
She has previously taught at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics. She also worked as an Actuarial Assistant with Segal Consultants, a pension consulting firm in New York, USA, before joining LUMS University.
Ayesha also has a keen interest in music and is a trained classical vocalist who has performed extensively. She is currently doing research on classical music with her Ustad, Parvez Paras, who is recognized as the foremost musicologist in the country. The two have been working on a series of books, being published by the Lahore School of Economics Press. The first book of this series was ‘Todi ki Riwayat’, followed by ‘Kanre ki Riwayat’ and ‘Raag Ras’. Translations of these works are ongoing and will also be published by the university press. The books analyze important aspects of Raags and emphasize the significance of researching this aspect of musicology in our country. Such research is crucial in preserving this precious heritage of our culture.
